Stormtroopers are more or less unchanged, and Field Tech have a nice new bonus where their shield fans out when they end their turn, becoming a new cover point. Snipers feel like they're back up to par with their increased effective range and higher base accuracy. Scouts are squishier than ever and have poorer accuracy, and can no longer just duck behind cover as the defense buff is severely nerfed and headshots still do bonus damage. It reduced the slight strength scouts had in the first game, but at the cost of reducing every other unit beside shocktroopers general effectiveness as well.Įdit2: And all that is ignoring the bastardization of the series Sega committed with the Browser-Based trading card game they made of it.Ĭlick to expand.I have some good(?) news for you!Īs mentioned before, we're back in the Gallian War setting of 1 and highschool antics are gone. A shame considering it had some bright spots in it.Įdit: That's not even touching on class balance either, as they made the typical soldier types nigh-godlike in the game with the heavily reduced map size. The story sucked, sure, but that was a small part in a long list (for me at least) of why the game sucked so badly. The game was changed up, because Sega admitted to wanting to go after an entirely different audience instead of the one it had built up. The game was a bloody mess in general, and sales reflected it. Any threat he has loses any credibility when a cannon you get extremely easily early on from an ace unit for your tank is easily able to one shot him.Īnd that 'fluff' comment applies doubly so to the "certificates" mechanic they added in to handle promotions and job switches. Seriously, when the game tells you "Avoid this guy, he's supposed to be scary and one-shot everything no problem!". Or at least force them to research it instead of just getting it. They should of toned down Ace tank parts, and a specific line of guns especially (people who played 2 know exactly the weapon I mean), to ensure that it didn't make the game so completely one-sided in your favor. They should of dropped all the annoying crap they put in just to fluff out crafting and exasperate people trying to do it. Now, I liked what they did overall with the tank mechanics, and even the research tree. And the entire game was so horribly unbalanced that it was, quite honestly, impossible to find a challenge within it. They didn't even bother trying to 'spruce' up the boss to make his mechanics any different than VC 1. The ending fight was less referential than it was a total bloody rip-off, copy and paste, of the first game. I doubt the piss-poor story of Valkyria Chronicles 2 helped any though. In a blog post the team confirmed that it's finished a working version of the patch compatible with the digital version of the game on both Translation Project's website. In case, you were wondering, it's a goal they recently accomplished. Dubbing themselves the Valkyria Chronicles 3 Translation Project, these fans have toiled since 2012 to create a patch that would turn the Japanese text to English. In turn, Valkyria Chronicles III, the franchise's second PSP game, was never localized for English audiences.ĭespite the franchise's poor western sales, it still had its fans however, some of whom decided to commit themselves to making the third game accessible to English speaking gamers. A price drop would help it gain momentum later on, but it and its PSP-based sequel never attained the popularity that its publishers at Sega were hoping for. The game was, initially, a notorious bomb in America, selling a mere 33,000 units in its opening month at American retailers. The Valkyria Chronicles 3 Translation Project has released a working patch translating the game's text into English.īack in the dark early days of the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles was easily one of the console's best exclusives which, sadly, did little for its sales in the United States.

There also was no noticeable tip flap, or any issues with tip deflection. There was not tip deflection as I plowed through and over the snow. The ski has a nice damp feel, but not so damp that it feels dead. I really liked the feel of the Rustler 11 in the variable conditions I found them in. The titanal layer adds a nice bit of stiffness under foot, and as it tapers it gives the ski a nice feel in the chopped up crud and cut up pow that I was playing in off-piste. They are relatively light with a ISO-Paulownia-Balsa-Poplar-Beech wood core. There is a layer of titanal that is tapered toward the tip and tail. Blizzard also has changed the layup of the Rustler from the now retired Gunsmoke version. The Rustler comes with both tip and tail rocker, however, the tip rocker is very gradual and the tail rocker is very subtle and minimal. Dims for the 180cm version that I demo'd were 139-112-129. The new Blizzard Rustler 11 is brand new offering from Blizzard and replaces the venerable Gunsmoke that had quite the cult following. Suffice to say variable conditions were on hand for anyone venturing off the groomer trails. Temps had gotten up to just about 0C at the end of the prior day, so the snow was a bit on the heavier side, and on South and SW facing aspects a bit of a very slight hint of a freeze layer underneath 5cm that had fallen during the night. Off-piste was 30cm of cut up pow from a storm that had come through the day prior. Lower down the spring warmth softened things up nicely. Conditions were fast hard groomers up high. Got a chance to ski on the Blizzard Rustler 11 last weekend at local ski hill. However, if it grows at the rate of 20% per month, it would require five years to hit $1 the milestone, which points to 2025 at the earliest,” Market Realist reports. “If Shiba maintains that level of growth, it could reach $1 in 2021.So, it could - in theory - hit $1 by the end of 2021 if it keeps up that growth, according to Market Realist. Thousands of trees were planted, and paths, buildings, and a dock were built. The island was covered and built up by dirt, capped with two feet of clay, and covered with two to five feet of topsoil. When the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project, or the Big Dig, began work in Boston in 1992, some of the project's excavated dirt and clay was used to resurface the island. We’ve also had composers who provided the performers, the instruments and the technology and we just integrated them into our concert. Ramon: We’ve had a number of composers simply submit scores, and we did the programming. What do you offer a composer interested in electronic music? It helps if submitters get somewhat familiar with our work before pitching a proposal – being in the audience can really help. We want the open call to reach people on our wavelength, sorry for all the electronic music metaphors. Part of our difficulty is the signal to noise ratio isn’t as good as we want it to be. Ramon: While we’ve received submissions from across the country and Europe, we are a local ensemble. We want them to think in terms of our limitations instead of any set of rules.įrom where have you received submissions? They need to be able to describe accurately what they want us to do. PoChun: We’re looking for creativity above all else, but a high degree of artistic maturity is also important. PoChun: We do have a permanent open call on our website looking for collaboration.ĭo you have specific criteria that you are looking for when you screen people’s submissions? We haven’t gotten into it yet, but dancers possibly too. Performers, composers, sound designers, video artists. Pei-Yeh Tsai (piano) is the manager and Jean Huang (violin) is the Concert coordinator.Īre you interested in being approached by composers or performers? She is the director and I am the artistic director. Who are the standing members of Bleep Blop? Since then, we’ve become a bit of a cross-over group between those two departments, at least in terms of student interest. PoChun: We soon found interest at Berklee in the Electronic Production and Design department and the Composition department. The concert was so successful and so much fun that we just decided to keep it going. We just had a concert that we needed to program so we decided to do electroacoustic music for solo piano, and Pei-yeh Tsai was the pianist. Ramon: The strange thing about the history of the group is that we weren’t really thinking about becoming an ensemble. PoChun with Klaudia and Rebecca from Trio Lumiere They went on their own separate ways thereafter. For instance, in one of the concerts we had a laptop ensemble that was put together just for that one concert, and that was it. Ramon: It’s an ensemble, but it’s very ad hoc. They may know how to write for traditional instruments, but they may not have any kind of electronic experience, so we wanted to make it possible for anyone who wants to write music to do so in this manner. Ramon: We want to make the process of writing electronic music accessible to younger composers or any composers really who may only know how to approach music from an orchestrational or acoustic point of view. Joe Morgan: What is the purpose of Bleep Blop? The other day BMInt talked with Ramon Castillo and PoChun Wang, the founding members of Bleep Blop about the group and its upcoming concerts at M.I.T. Their 8:00 event on April 13 th at MIT’s Killian Hall will feature works by Ramon Castillo, Deepak Gopinath, Ryan Meyer and PoChun Wang for electronically manipulated piano (Pei-yeh Tsai), analog synthesis, the Kronos Quartet Drum Machine, dynamically looped mbira, live video, including Six Six for solo piano and dynamic loopers, Two for soloist performing 8 simultaneous film scores, Bounce and Wonderland for synthesizer and the Kronos Quartet Drum Machine, Artifice for solo piano and iPad controlled effects. According to their manifesto, Bleep Blop, a Boston-based electroacoustic new music ensemble, “collaborates with sound designers, artists and composers to develop new music and visual arts, and is committed to the merging of acoustic performers and live electronics, resulting in an overhaul of the concert experience.” They also promote interactions with their audiences. Anterograde amnesia is when brain trauma curtails or stops someone's ability to form new memories. The first, retrograde amnesia, occurs where you forget things you knew before the brain trauma. Amnesia is usually the result of some kind of trauma to the brain, such as a head injury, a stroke, a brain tumor, or chronic alcoholism. To understand how we remember things, it's incredibly helpful to study how we forget- which is why neuroscientists study amnesia, the loss of memories or the ability to learn. Once you've learned to ride a bicycle, you're not likely to forget. But nondeclarative memories stick around more easily. It takes less time to memorize a country's capital than it does to learn how to play the violin. In general, declarative memories are easier to form than nondeclarative memories. Nondeclarative memories also can shape your body's unthinking responses, like salivating at the sight of your favorite food or tensing up when you see something you fear.Ī memory matching game pits your ability to remember. Do you play an instrument or ride a bicycle? Those are your procedural memories at work. These include procedural memories, which your body uses to remember the skills you've learned. Nondeclarative memory, also called implicit memory, unconsciously builds up. Others consist of past events you've experienced, such as a childhood birthday. Some of these memories are facts or “common knowledge”: things like the capital of Portugal (Lisbon), or the number of cards in a standard deck of playing cards (52). Declarative memory, also called explicit memory, consists of the sorts of memories you experience consciously. Whenever you say a phone number to yourself over and over to remember it, you're using your working memory.Īnother way to categorize memories is by the subject of the memory itself, and whether you are consciously aware of it. We also have a working memory, which lets us keep something in our minds for a limited time by repeating it. Short-term memories last seconds to hours, while long-term memories last for years. Humans retain different types of memories for different lengths of time. So, how do we hold on to everything we've learned and experienced? Memories. Working in a small group, you will have an opportunity to create your own Memory project on a topic of your choosing. It encourages you to make connections between the archive, historical and philosophical approaches, representations in fiction, comics, art, music and creative writing. This module allows you to explore the selective remembering of the past in the present, and the importance of why and how certain elements are contested and forgotten. Memory is connected with suppression, repression and censorship, as well as creation and imagination. Rather than a stable repository, Memory is understood to be unreliable, conflicted, contested, transitory, and political. Recent thinking has focussed on the nature of personal, collective and cultural memory as shapers of individuals and society. This module centres on Memory as a key concept in the Humanities. Highly recommended for all new Humanities students. – If you are tired of watching cut-scenes with bullets flying during headshots (and not only), go to the “Options” menu. Here you can completely disable such cut-scenes (set “Off” in front of the “Bullet camera” item) or reduce the frequency of their operation (set the “Shot detail frequency” slider to a minimum). Keep in mind that the silencer can only be fitted to light and medium sniper rifles. A flame arrester is installed on heavy ones, but its effectiveness in terms of suppressing noise is none. It just helps you hide the direction the weapon was fired from. The same silencers are installed on additional and personal weapons. You can also take a powerful bow as an additional weapon – by default, a silent weapon. For pistols, I recommend choosing something semi-automatic so that you can make several shots at once. – Choose skills from the “Drone and Turret” and “Equipment and Gadgets” branches at your discretion. – Also, to increase stealth, take “Universal camouflage”, “Improved camouflage” and “Ghost”. – In some missions, you still have to give up your positions, which means to conduct an open battle. Therefore, such perks as “Ceramic coating” from the “Soldier” branch, “Combat intuition”, which allows you to secretly kill two enemies in a row, “Steel grip”, which allows you to eliminate heavily armored targets by killing from behind, are extremely important. – Be sure to unlock the Feline Grace and Light Equipment perks from the Movement tree. – All improvements in the “Utilities” branch, which will allow you to plan your route in advance. You can mark each target, and in mask mode you will see enemies behind walls and other obstacles. It is very important! So, for those of you out there with a lot more experience with this type of firearm, or shooting 9mm ammo in particular, what would your recommendations be for the best ammunition for a G3C, or any sub-compact pistol, and is +P too much ammo for this gun. My Kimber would eat anything, but this is a whole other ballpark as far as ammunition goes for me, and I am concerned both about the safety issue of using +P in a G3C, and the eventual possibility of putting a lot of wear and tear on a firearm that might not be best suited for this round. It's going to take a lot of range work to get used to the difference (not auto dumping the mag after 8 rounds being top of the list, lol.) And like I said, I am really worried if this ammunition is going to cause issues with a polymer frame compact like the G3C. So, huge difference in size/weight/handling right off the bat. Your smartphone (s) – can be an older device you no longer use but want to extract your old photos/videos from.Existing libraries like Apple Photos, Aperture or Google Photos. The next step in setting up Mylio Photos is to start adding your photos and videos. Duplicate photo finder is a handy way to identify files to delete. Several ways to get your media into Mylio. Next, you can start adding Devices which Mylio will keep in sync with each other, depending on the media you add to each. Having two or more Vaults can fully protect your library in case of hardware failure, theft, or other disasters. In my case, I chose a single 500GB LaCie external USB hard drive. Some examples of Vault devices include desktop computers, external drives… or even cloud services, which may seem like a bit of a strange option, given the key selling point of Mylio is ‘offline-only’, but it’s actually quite a clever solution – before uploading anything, your media is encrypted by Mylio. Your Vault should therefore be your computer’s hard drive, an external drive or even a NAS – anything with plenty of storage space. where the original files will be located, stored and accessed by your other devices running Mylio. The onboarding continues with notifications on what to do next, namely, add a device to be designated as your Vault – i.e. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Mylio to your computer, instructions start appearing on the screen to explain the process in plain English, as well as reminders of what Mylio is (local photo storage) and what it isn’t (online cloud storage). Getting your head around how Mylio shares all your photos and videos across your devices into one unified ‘vault’ takes a moment or two, but thankfully the initial setup process helps you understand what’s happening. With Mylio, since you upload nothing, all your data remains 100% private, and in this day and age, that’s a very reassuring feeling!Īdding multiple devices is simple and fast. It’s not just hacking, either – many people aren’t comfortable having their images in online albums, even if they’re marked private. The Cloud may seem like a secure way to house your precious photos and videos, but anything online is hackable and accessible by anyone with the intent and malicious skills. Once this is understood, it’s easy to see the principal benefit of using Mylio Photos is one of privacy. None of your media is uploaded to the Internet – the movement is only across your (private) local WiFi network. This can be confusing since we associate WiFi with being online, but in this case, the WiFi is just providing a local network to Mylio. Nothing is uploaded to a Cloud – media is simply sent over WiFi across your devices, so you can access everything in one central, unified location. You don’t need to go ‘online’ to use Mylio to share, manage and access your images – all you need is access to a local WiFi network. The key difference between Mylio Photos and iCloud, Lightroom Mobile or any of the myriad other online photo sharing/management platforms is that everything occurs offline… or rather, locally on your WiFi network. Mylio is a simple solution to help you rediscover and unify photos & videos ‘lost’ across all your devices.Īside from all the excellent photo management and discovery features of Mylio which we’ll discuss below in the review, the main benefit of Mylio Photos is privacy. To optimise storage, photos are optimised to approximately 5% of their original size. You can store and organise an unlimited number of photos and videos – the only limitations are the capacity of your devices. This makes it great for families and small businesses where people are using a mix of products and platforms. Mylio is platform-agnostic, meaning if your laptop is a Mac but your phone is an Android and your tablet runs Windows, you can still use Mylio. Mylio Photos also helps you find images faster via smart organisation and search features, as well as offering handy image editing tools too. You choose to ‘share’ any photos or videos across these devices via your secure WiFi connection – as long as the devices are connected and active on the same WiFi network, the apps will sync your chosen content. Mylio Photos uses local media storage and device-to-device syncing and backup to allow users to connect multiple image libraries together to be accessed in one location – all without the Internet or the Cloud. Mylio Photos is a downloadable photo management app for Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows ARM. |
